it has been a few days since made a real update, so lets start with today & work backwards

i started my monday morning by being rear-ended by a cop in an unmarked car. i stopped for traffic, he did not. bang. he was blinded by the glare & did not see me stop. luckily, the traffic was moving slowly so there was no damage (other than a slightly sore neck & a headache) he was very apologetic & very cool about the whole thing. could have been a hell of a lot worse.

filed my taxes today & for the first time in a long time i owe the government money. so much for those deductions & credits we used to get. thanks a lot george w.

They misunderestimated me.

ocvictor did a kick-ass feature last night at the hut. smaller crowd, but good poems from everyone. im always surprised when the crowd drops off for something like the supperbowl the poets on a sunday night dont strike me as a jock crowd, but to each his own. (i am glad the pats won, btw)

we took the boy sledding saturday. his grandfather sent him a flexible flyer sled the same sled he had used as a kid & S had used as a kid. three generations using the same sled. damn cool if you ask me. the boy loved sledding. after his first fast run & wipeout he got that look on his face that says, why havent i don this before? this ROCKS!! it was like watching a kindergarten version of Jackass.

friday was the day of stress & screwed-up travel plans. the show i was going to pack in florida today was extended two weeks. this means that ill be driving to the iWPS on tuesday rather than flying to florida, then flying to greenville. on the downside, i will be flying into daytona beach the day of the Daytona 500 & the start of spring break. happy happy joy joy.

friday was also the day i found out that my mom is ok after a bit of a scare on thursday. she went to the hospital on thursday morning with what appeared to be a heart attack, but turned out to be a whopper of an anxiety attack. after tests on thursday & friday they deemed her physically fit & turned her loose to relax for the weekend. now to do something about the anxiety.

mom is fine & im thrilled, but it also was a bit of a reminder that my folks are getting older & that things like this will start happening more often. we dont like to think about our parents aging & suffering health troubles, yet it happens. years ago they set me up as their medical proxy should something happen & part of me kept thinking, im too young & they are too young to be thinking about this stuff. but the fact is, we do need to worry about this stuff my folks are getting older & pretending it is not happening wont make it go away.

in other news

if you have not seen penguin baseball yet you need to. click the yeti once to pitch & again to hit. catch them right & you can get the penguins to lawn dart. my record so far is 323.5. (thanks tim for the site.)

tonight i pack & finish getting ready for the iWPS. tomorrow morning i hit the road. ill try to update from greenville.

there, i think im caught up now. hope you all had a good weekend.more later.

be well.
