One of the great things about books is sometimes there are some fantastic pictures.

bowling & mini golf last night.

gary got a hole-in-one on #17, but he was playing #16. (no, im not kidding) very silly evening & that is the way it should be when poets go bowling or golfing.

first day of classes yesterday were fine but not very enlightening. today should be much more interesting, with talks on surface patinations & conservation of ferrous metals. yeah, i know, you are so jealous. (tomorrow is fabrication metallography and precious metals metallurgy. whoa, too wild

fighting off what is either a cold or allergies. (the pollen is crazy right now) woke up feeling like crap, but slowly starting to feel better as the day goes by. keeping my fingers crossed that this was just a one day thing.

i was given a lilac tree the other day & went to pick it up last night. nothing like driving through the city at midnight with a tree sticking out of your trunk to raise an eyebrow or two. want to get it planted when i get home today. (if the rain holds off till then) the house i grew up in had a huge lilac plant just outside my window & i remember lying in bed & feeling the evening breeze drifting through the window the sweet smell of lilacs filling my room. even now, that smell has a calming effect on me that few other aromas do.

the next haiku challenge starts today. same as last time, ten haiku in one day based on one word. the word this time is spring. feel free to join the fun & write ten of your own. post them in your journal when you are done.

time to head to class.
hope you all have a good day.

be well.
