happy monday!!
(yeah, right)

had a good weekend (surprise surprise). painting on friday finished a large piece that really like. lots of bold colors & stark lines. really put me in a good headspace. i love when art can do that to you.

went to a party on saturday & had a GREAT time. lots of good food & cool people. was given one of the coolest gift baskets i have ever gotten. gary & the silent one put together a cool basket & just made my night. they rock, they roll, and they are cooler than spice racks.

the reading last night went well. a bit scattered, but tis the season for being scattered. got a good response on the new piece & had a chance to touch base with some long-lost friends & some new friends. it is also very cool to see in person the faces behind what is on my computer.

since ive started keeping this diary ive become attached to a lot of the people whose diaries i read on a regular basis. many of these people i dont know, or know only in passing, but yet i feel protective of them in a very real & personal way. we all have two families the one we are born with & the one we choose. many times i care more about my chosen family of poets, musicians, writers, painters, & assorted misfits than i do about my other family &, in a lot of ways, i think that is the way it should be.

on a sad note
Joe Strummer died yesterday. this pisses me off. The Clash were one of the first bands to really rock my world & make me see that there was a lot more out there beyond what i had been fed. (go pick up London Calling if you dont know what im talking about) they opened the door to so much great music for me. i just dont think it is fair that Joe Strummer is dead & Kenny G is still alive.

"when they kick in your front door
how you gonna come
with your hands on your head
or on the trigger of your gun"

more tomorrow.
be well.
