the finger i hurt on monday morning kept me up all monday night. so tuesday morning i headed to the occupational health office to get it checked. i now have some nice x-rays of my hand, but no broken bones just a bone bruise & a deep cut right next to the nail. the worse part is that it does not look like much until i bump it against something, then it just hurts like hell. doctor said it would be sore for a week or so. oh well, could have been worse.

the deconstruction outside my office has become construction. in three days they have demolished two walls, built two new ones, moved all the electrical work & started fitting the new doors. if all goes well they should be done with phase one by the middle of next week. then i have about two days to move a few hundred pieces of the collection (as well as half of my workshop) so that they can start phase two. at least it is not boring at work right now.

speaking of not being boring at work

big personal shifts starting in my department. i got a heads-up on monday & it became official this morning. (just in time of the annual meeting that happened tonight) ive still got a job, but it should get more exciting as the summer progresses. not much detail at this point, but ill keep you posted as things progress.

side note: inter-office politics take on a much different spin when you are not only surrounded by lots of weaponry, but by people who know how to use it. my department head has written five books on medieval sword fight techniques. i try to stay on his good side. (on the other hand, he also is suffering from a ruptured achilles tendon that he got from a contra dancing accident. no, im not joking.)

spent part of the afternoon playing with black powder & firing off a matchlock in the parking lot. they said that they were going to do a demonstration for the trustees after the meeting tonight. i think my director just wants to reduce the board headcount a bit. ill find out on thursday how it went.

im just babbling at this point, so i think ill call it a night.

be well.
