took my wife to the airport this morning.
if you have not been to the airport since 9/11
be prepared for a wake-up call when you get there.

lets start with the armed solders in the terminal telling you
what line to get into. then there is the
line that (in providence) zigzagged across the entire terminal.
then there are the little things.
the jersey barriers everywhere. parking areas that
are sealed off from traffic. undercover police.
extra cameras & scanners. and forget waiting at
the gate with someone unless you have a ticket.
and when they tell you to get there 2 hours before your
flight believe them.

im not angry or upset with the extra security.
the wait was not as bad as i thought it
was going to be. everyone was nice & people
seemed to be taking it all in stride.
none of that been in line waiting too long
grumpiness. everyone was calm & very quiet.

very quiet. too quiet.

you got the feeling that everyone was thinking the
same thing. it was all a bit creepy.

i find that i pray a lot more now then i did before.
i know im not the only one who does.

--------------- ---------------------- -------------

i got a total of 2 hours of sleep last night.
we had to leave for the airport before 5 this morning.
i am just a bit tired today.
think ill pack it in early & take advantage of having
an quiet house. this is what sick time is for.
