first off, before i say anything else, i have to say

Gary is a God!!

Gary redesigned my diary.
it rocks, it rolls, and it has coffee beans.
i am a happy man.
what a way to start a monday.
------------- ----------------------
i was in the worcester slam finals last night.
i made the team.
its a mixed blessing.

its a good group of people im on the team with. a nice mix of rookies & veterans. as Lea said, its a classic Worcester team; three woman and a token Bill.our alternate is a good kid with some real potential. i think that being the alternate will do him a world of good. he gets to go to nationals, see what others are doing, take in the vibe, but does not have to compete. the best of both worlds. all the fun, none of the work. i think it will give him the base to do wonderful things next year if he chooses. (of course, our alternate from last year did the same thing, only he ended up getting on the boston team, not worcester. yes, we train poets for other cities.)

i think i did a good job last night. felt like the new kid on the block & very on my own. it was like i was in a venue that i had not been to before. now the real work begins, turning five poets with different styles into a team. its work but it is also fun. feels good to be back in the saddle again.

-------------- --------------------------

we had a huge event at work on saturday. people nonstop from the time we opened the doors until we closed. i did an open conservation lab for four hours. in the past i would get people coming through in waves (work for a while, answer questions for a while) this time they just kept coming. i talked nonstop for over four hours. i had no voice by the time it was done. this after five hours of set-up & security, then two hours of breakdown & security after. i was whipped by the time i left. some days are easy, some days i earn every penny.

------------------ ----------------------

my son got a big boy bed on sunday.
i took his crib apart & set up his bed. now there is no keeping him in his room at night. he spent all of his nap running in & out of his room, playing with his toys, & generally abusing his newfound freedom.

yep, thats my boy.

------------------ -----------------------

did i mention that Gary rocks?
well he does damnit!!

------------------ -----------------------

looking forward to a quiet night at home.
i need a night of not thinking.
perhaps some VH1 & pizza will do the trick.

how was your weekend?
