among the many things i do at work are a few that are just plane strange. when you work in a museum filled with arms & armor the days can take weird twists & turns. things crop up. you get unusual phone calls & emails. (how many of you get calls about cannons & swords at your job?) so my mind is open at the start of each day, knowing that something odd will come down the pike by the time i leave.

in 10 minutes i will be standing on the front steps of the museum in a full suit of armor holding a banner.

it will not be as fun as it sounds.
for all the romance & visions of knights in shining armor wearing a full suit of armor sucks. for starters, you cant just throw a suit of armor on, you have to be dressed in it. this takes 2 to 3 people & a good 15 minutes to do. then there is the noise. cover yourself in pots & pans then go for a jog & youll start to get an idea of what it sounds like inside a suit. and they are flexible, but only for fighting & being on horseback. walking up & down stairs is like moving with a pole up your ass (or to be more exact, like moving with 60 pounds of steel strapped to your body)

there are times they dont pay me enough.

on the plus side of things, it has been blissfully quiet around here the past few days. ive had a chance to play catch-up with some paperwork & start back in on a suit i have been cleaning for what seems like years now. the rest of the week looks about the same. (having said that something will go wrong)

slam team practice tonight. this will be our first full rehearsal since the team was chosen. it looks like a good team & no one is on an ego trip (thank God). starting right in on multi-voice work tonight. would like to have at least 2 team pieces by our first feature in two weeks from now. well see how it goes.

im looking forward to going to a nationals & not working for a change. i have spent the last three working & not getting to enjoy the poetry so this will be a nice change. to be honest, it is the main reason i went out for the team in the first place. (cant make me be on the protest committee if im on a team. hehehe). shaping up to be an interesting nationals. will be good to sit back & watch the drama unfold.

& there is ALWAYS drama at nationals.
thats what makes it so much fun.
